Zack Samocha is the Senior Director of Products at Coverity. In his current role he defines the company product strategy and manages the Coverity open source Scan program which has grown under his leadership to 500 projects and 1,000 active users. Zack initiated research comparing Open source code quality with proprietary code. Zack Started his career at Mercury interactive. During his nine years at Mercury Interactive (which was acquired by HP in 2006), Samocha held a series of senior positions in product marketing, development and management. During his tenure, he developed deep testing and quality management expertise and helped lead the company’s strategy in the software testing market. After Mercury he worked as the director of products at AtHoc, a provider of enterprise-class, network-centric emergency notification systems and served as the VP of products at Sauce Labs, where he worked closely with the Selenium open source community. As for Linux, currently there are 132 developers using Coverity Scan to fix defects, on the 3.x branch about 4,122 defects were fixed. Zack works closely with Linux core contributor to automate the support.
